👊

Saitama

Caped Baldy / The Strongest

The hero who trained so hard he lost his hair — and gained the ability to defeat any enemy with a single punch. Saitama's tragedy isn't powerlessness but invincibility: the complete absence of challenge, excitement, or worthy opponents. His deadpan reaction to everything — boredom at the apocalypse, excitement at a sale — is One Punch Man's central joke and its deepest philosophical statement about achievement without meaning.

🤖

Genos

Demon Cyborg

The serious, note-taking S-Class cyborg who attaches himself to Saitama as his disciple after seeing his power firsthand. Genos's burning desire to grow stronger — constantly upgrading his cyborg body — contrasts beautifully with Saitama's utter indifference to power. His detailed analysis of Saitama's "techniques" (there are none) and his earnest hero notebook are recurring comic goldmines.

🥋

Bang

Silver Fang / S-Class Hero

The elderly martial arts master ranked #3 in S-Class — a supremely powerful hero whose Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist technique can deflect and redirect any attack. Bang's quiet dignity, his complicated relationship with his wayward student Garou, and his role as the show's most honorable hero make him OPM's moral backbone. His desperate hope that Garou can be saved drives one of the manga's most emotional arcs.

🐺

Garou

The Hero Hunter

Bang's expelled student — the "Human Monster" who hunts heroes in a twisted act of rebellion against a society he believes favors the strong and ignores the weak. Garou's arc — gradually transforming into a genuine monster while fighting for genuine humanistic values — is the most complex narrative in One Punch Man. His confrontation with Saitama in the manga is widely considered one of shonen's greatest battles.

🌪

Tatsumaki

Tornado of Terror

The #2 S-Class hero and the most powerful esper in the world — a short-tempered, petite psychokinetic who has contempt for most other heroes. Tatsumaki's backstory — a childhood spent as a lab test subject, bonding with a young Saitama in the manga's past arc — adds genuine pathos to her prickly exterior. Her relationship with her sister Fubuki is OPM's most complex family dynamic.

👑

King

The Strongest Man Alive

The S-Class hero ranked #7 — a man with zero combat ability who is universally believed to be the most powerful hero alive, due to credit-stealing and the terrifying "King Engine" sound of his heartbeat. King's secret is OPM's funniest long-running gag, and his genuine friendship with Saitama — the only person who actually knows the truth — gives him a uniquely warm role in the series.

💨

Speed-o'-Sound Sonic

Professional Ninja

The ultra-fast ninja assassin who becomes obsessed with defeating Saitama after losing to him effortlessly. Sonic's complete inability to accept that Saitama is simply on a different level, combined with his genuine speed-based competence against everyone else, makes him one of OPM's funniest recurring characters. His rivalry with Genos and his increasingly bizarre training methods are consistent highlights.

👁

Lord BorosDominator of the Universe

The alien overlord who crossed the universe searching for a worthy opponent — and finally found one in Saitama. Boros's arc is the perfect mirror to Saitama's: both suffer from invincibility, both crave challenge, both are ultimately lonely. His final battle with Saitama — the only fight where Saitama uses a serious consecutive punch — is Season 1's greatest sequence and one of anime's most cathartic boss fights.

Flashy Flash

S-Class Hero / Flash

The #13 S-Class hero — a ninja of extraordinary speed whose casual destruction of Dragon-level threats makes him one of OPM's most powerful active heroes. Flashy Flash's aloof arrogance, his mysterious past as a member of the ninja village, and his growing (reluctant) involvement in the manga's major arcs establish him as one of the more complex hero personalities in the Association's ranks.

🏏

Metal BatS-Class Hero / Bad

The hot-blooded S-Class hero who fights with a metal bat and raw, stubborn fury — growing stronger the more damage he takes. Metal Bat's personality is pure delinquent energy, but his genuine devotion to his little sister Zenko grounds him as one of OPM's most endearing characters. His refusal to back down even against monsters far above his level exemplifies the show's celebration of determination over power.

About One Punch Man

One Punch Man began as a webcomic by ONE in 2009, which was then adapted into a manga illustrated by Yusuke Murata starting in 2012. The anime adaptation by Madhouse premiered in October 2015 to massive acclaim, followed by a Season 2 from J.C. Staff in 2019.

The series deconstructs superhero tropes through Saitama's existential boredom — making it a simultaneously hilarious and surprisingly philosophical work. Murata's manga artwork is widely considered among the most technically impressive in shonen history, and the series remains one of the most popular ongoing manga worldwide.
