Katsuki Bakugo

Hero name: Dynamight · Quirk: Explosion

Izuku's childhood friend and bully, with sweat like nitroglycerin that he ignites from his palms. He's a genuine genius at combat, but his pride and temper get in his way. His slow, painful shift from tormenting Izuku to respecting and finally apologising to him is one of the series' most important arcs.

Shoto Todoroki

Hero name: Shoto · Quirk: Half-Cold Half-Hot

The son of the hero Endeavor, who married his mother specifically to produce an heir with both fire and ice. Shoto refuses to use his fire side out of hatred for his father until Izuku challenges him at the Sports Festival. He's calm and a bit oblivious, and his family's reckoning becomes a central plot in the later arcs.

Ochaco Uraraka

Hero name: Uravity · Quirk: Zero Gravity

Ochaco can make anything she touches with all five fingertips float, at the price of nausea if she overdoes it. She first wanted to become a hero to make money for her struggling parents, then finds deeper reasons. She trains in martial arts with Gunhead, and becomes one of Izuku's closest friends, with obvious feelings for him.

Tenya Iida

Hero name: Ingenium · Quirk: Engine

Class 1-A's earnest, rule-loving class representative, with engines in his calves that give him huge speed. When the Hero Killer Stain cripples his older brother Tensei, Iida goes after Stain for revenge and nearly throws his future away. He later takes his brother's hero name.

Tsuyu Asui

Hero name: Froppy · Quirk: Frog

Tsuyu can do anything a frog can: long tongue, wall-climbing, swimming and camouflage. She's famous for saying exactly what she thinks, and for the calm, steady head that makes her the class's best rescue specialist. She asks friends to call her "Tsu."

Eijiro Kirishima

Hero name: Red Riot · Quirk: Hardening

Kirishima turns his skin rock-hard and jagged, and his upgraded Unbreakable form makes him nearly impervious for a short time. He's warm, loud and obsessed with being "manly," and his worry that he froze when it counted in middle school drives his growth. He's Bakugo's closest friend.

Momo Yaoyorozu

Hero name: Creati · Quirk: Creation

Momo can create any non-living object from the fat in her body, as long as she understands its molecular structure. That makes her the smartest strategist in the class. She was admitted on recommendation and is vice-representative, but her early lack of confidence is a major part of her arc.

Denki Kaminari

Hero name: Chargebolt · Quirk: Electrification

Kaminari can release huge amounts of electricity, but if he overloads his brain short-circuits and he becomes a giggling, thumbs-up airhead. Support gear later lets him aim his attacks. He's the class joker, but he's braver than he looks.

Kyoka Jiro

Hero name: Earphone Jack · Quirk: Earphone Jack

Jiro's earlobes end in long audio jacks she can plug into things to listen in or fire sound waves from her heartbeat. She's dry, sarcastic and embarrassed by her love of music, until she leads the class band at the school festival.

Fumikage Tokoyami

Hero name: Tsukuyomi · Quirk: Dark Shadow

Tokoyami has a bird's head and a living shadow creature, Dark Shadow, that grows stronger and harder to control in the dark. He talks like a gothic poet. He interns under Hawks and learns to fly by wrapping himself in Dark Shadow.

Mina Ashido

Hero name: Pinky · Quirk: Acid

Mina has pink skin and horns and can secrete acid of varying strength, which she uses to skate across surfaces. She's a dancer and the life of the class. She once wanted to be called "Alien Queen" before the class talked her out of it.

Mezo Shoji

Hero name: Tentacole · Quirk: Dupli-Arms

Shoji has six arms joined by webbing and can grow eyes, ears or mouths at their tips, making him an excellent scout. He hides his face because of the prejudice people with animal-like features face. He's quiet and protective, and always first to shield a classmate.

Hanta Sero

Hero name: Cellophane · Quirk: Tape

Sero shoots tape from his elbows to swing around and tie people up. He's easygoing and well-liked. He's also known for being frozen solid by Todoroki in the Sports Festival, prompting the crowd's chant of "Don't mind!"

Mashirao Ojiro

Hero name: Tailman · Quirk: Tail

Ojiro has a big, strong tail and a martial-arts style built around it. He's remembered for withdrawing from the Sports Festival tournament because he couldn't accept a place he didn't feel he'd earned while brainwashed.

Koji Koda

Hero name: Anima · Quirk: Anivoice

Koda can command animals with his voice. He's very shy, barely speaks and is afraid of bugs, but he forces himself to give orders when lives depend on it. He's gentle with every creature he meets.

Rikido Sato

Hero name: Sugarman · Quirk: Sugar Rush

Sato gets five times stronger for a few minutes after eating sugar, but becomes sluggish when it wears off. He's the class's quiet powerhouse and its best baker.

Toru Hagakure

Hero name: Invisible Girl · Quirk: Invisibility

Toru is permanently invisible, so you only see her floating gloves and clothes. She's bubbly and great at stealth, and she learns to bend light through her body to blind enemies. Her role grows a lot in the final arc.

Yuga Aoyama

Hero name: Can't Stop Twinkling · Quirk: Navel Laser

Aoyama is a sparkly, theatrical boy who fires a laser from his navel and wears a special belt because the Quirk doesn't fully suit his body. He's eccentric and seems to keep his distance from his classmates. Why he does that becomes a major plot point.

Minoru Mineta

Hero name: Grape Juice · Quirk: Pop Off

Mineta pulls sticky purple balls from his head that bounce off him and stick to everything else. He's cowardly and a pervert, which makes him the class's most divisive character, but he has a few clever moments in serious fights.

Endeavor

No. 1 hero after All Might · Quirk: Hellflame

Enji Todoroki spent his career obsessed with surpassing All Might and abused his family in the process. Inheriting the top spot without earning it forces him to confront what he's done. His attempt at atonement is one of the most debated arcs in the series.

Hawks

No. 2 hero · Quirk: Fierce Wings

Keigo Takami is the youngest hero to break into the top ten, with crimson wings whose feathers he controls individually. He's casual and fast, and secretly works for the Hero Public Safety Commission as a double agent.

Eraser Head

Class 1-A teacher · Quirk: Erasure

Shota Aizawa can cancel anyone's Quirk by looking at them, but only while he doesn't blink. He's scruffy, sleepy and threatens to expel students constantly, but he cares deeply about keeping them alive.

Hizashi Yamada is a loud radio DJ and U.A.'s English teacher, whose voice can be turned into a sonic attack. He's been Aizawa's friend since their school days.

Top-three hero · Quirk: Fiber Master

Best Jeanist controls fabric and fibres, especially denim. He takes Bakugo as an intern and tries, without much luck, to tame him into a "proper" hero.

Mirko

Rabbit hero · Quirk: Rabbit

Rumi Usagiyama is a solo hero with the powers of a rabbit, especially devastating kicks. She's fearless and blunt, and her few big fights made her a fan favourite.

Gran Torino

All Might's teacher · Quirk: Jet

A tiny old man who propels himself by expelling air from the soles of his feet. He trains Izuku briefly and is one of the few people who knows All For One's history.

Sir Nighteye

All Might's former sidekick · Quirk: Foresight

Nighteye can see the future of anyone he touches. He doubted Izuku was the right successor, mentored Mirio, and believes a future can't be changed.

Edgeshot, Kamui Woods and Mt. Lady

Pro heroes

Edgeshot can fold his body paper-thin, Kamui Woods fights with wooden limbs, and Mt. Lady grows giant-sized. They're the pros who show up most often at major incidents.

Fat Gum and Ryukyu

Internship mentors

Fat Gum absorbs impacts in his body fat and mentors Kirishima and Tamaki. Ryukyu turns into a dragon and mentors Ochaco, Tsuyu and Nejire.

Nezu, Recovery Girl and the faculty

U.A. staff

Principal Nezu is a mouse-like animal with super-intelligence. Recovery Girl heals with a kiss. The rest of the faculty includes Midnight, Cementoss, Ectoplasm, Thirteen, Snipe, Power Loader, Hound Dog and Vlad King, 1-B's teacher.

Dabi

Quirk: Cremation

A patchwork of scarred and stapled skin with blue flames so hot they burn him too. He's obsessed with Endeavor and with tearing down the system that made him a hero.

Himiko Toga

Quirk: Transform

Toga transforms into anyone whose blood she's drunk. Her cheerful, love-struck menace hides a childhood of being told her natural urges were monstrous, and she forms a strange bond with Ochaco.

Quirk: Double

Jin Bubaigawara makes copies of anyone he's measured. After cloning himself, he lost track of which one was real, which shattered his mind. He contradicts himself mid-sentence and is the League's most loyal friend.

Spinner

Quirk: Gecko

A lizard-like young man inspired by Stain's ideology. He becomes a spokesman for people who were mistreated for their heteromorphic appearance.

Mr. Compress

Quirk: Compress

A masked stage magician who shrinks people and objects into marbles. He's polished and theatrical, and descends from a famous phantom thief.

Kurogiri

Quirk: Warp Gate

The League's mist-bodied bartender and teleporter, who ferries everyone around. His real origins are among the series' darker reveals.

Magne

Quirk: Magnetism

A big-hearted, big-sister figure to the League's newer members, who magnetises people and pulls them together.
